The role of a teacher in a child’s upbringing is equally as significant as that of a parent. Teachers give us the skills we need to develop over time and help us recognise and react to a variety of life circumstances. The following is a list of some of these amazing teachers who helped improve society in 2024.
Tirunelveli Teacher Who Took Students On ISRO Trip
This year’s Dr. Radhakrishnan award went to Ganesan, a science teacher in a government secondary school in the Tirunelveli district’s Vellalankulam hamlet. The Dr. Radhakrishnan Award was given to 386 teachers by the Tamil Nadu government. In 2004, he began teaching. Along with explaining the subtleties of life, he has been teaching science. He devotes special attention to students who struggle with reading in addition to those who do well in school. He provides easy manuals to students who are weak in their studies and exhorts them to persevere and do well in their studies.
The children were also shown the ISRO Science Centre in Mahendragiri by Ganesan, who wanted them to learn about science outside of the textbook. Over his 20-year career, Ganesan has participated in a lot of science shows. Ganesan does all that a teacher can to effectively assist their students, from providing directions for competitive exams to imparting practical science knowledge to giving personal attention to children.
Chandralekha Mistry Honoured For Botanical Garden Initiative in School
A grade-I biology teacher at Satyavati Soyru Angel Higher Secondary School in Mashem Loliem, Goa, Chandralekha Damodar Mistry was one of 50 teachers who received the 2024 National Teachers Award. By driving 50 kilometres every day to her school, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the teaching and learning profession for the past 24 years. Rather than draining her, her lengthy travels inspire her to teach with even more fervour.
The majority of Chandralekha’s students are from economically poor and indigenous homes. Some of these students come from fishing communities and go from the Karnataka border to study under her tutelage, while many are the first members of their family to attend school. She has developed innovative teaching strategies, such establishing a botanical garden on the school grounds, to make learning more approachable and engaging. This garden enables children to learn biology through practical exercises that foster scientific curiosity and connect them to the natural world.
National Teacher’s Awardees From Bihar
Dr Meenakshi Kumar teaches at Shiv Ganga Girls Intermediate College in Madhubani. While Sikendra Kumar Suman is the in-charge headmaster of the New Primary School of Kaimur district. Only 52 children study in Sikendra Kumar’s school. The school is equipped with CCTV cameras and has automatic bells. The school features smart classrooms. Weekly exams are conducted online and their results are also released online. Kumar has studied up to 12th from Kendriya Vidyalaya and completed his graduation from Kashi Hindu University.
National Teacher’s Awardee From Jharkhand
Dr. Asha Rani who was selected for the National Teachers Award 2024 is a resident of Bokaro, Jharkhand. She teaches Sanskrit at an intermediate school from classes 9 to 12 in Chandankiyari. Dr Asha Rani said she is very happy to be selected for the National Teachers Award this year. She said that she did not know that she would be selected for the award. “I worked hard and now I am very happy with the results,” she said.
Sunil Kumar Becomes Himachal’s First Teacher to Receive National Teachers’ Award
The Ministry of Education (MoE) stated that Sunil Kumar, a lecturer at a government school in Khargat, Himachal Pradesh, had been awarded the National Teachers’ Award. Even during the summer holidays, he educates children online via his YouTube channel. In March 2008, Kumar became a government employee in the Education department and taught chemistry at Government Senior Secondary School in Chamba district.
In 2016, he was promoted to chemistry lecturer. During his tenure, 65 students were chosen from the Children’s Science Congress at the state level. Despite his specific needs, Kumar has never been discouraged by his physical limitations. Kumar stated that he was given polio medicine when he was eight months old, which resulted in his impairment.
