The Chinese champion, Liren, who entered the summit clash fighting against the odds, opened with a win in the curtain riser of the match in Game 1, before holding his advantage with a second game draw.

However,  the Indian challenger came back strong in Game 3 to clinch the win as Liren ran out of time on the clock and evened the scores.

If the match ends in a tie after all 14 games, a tiebreak will be held the following day to determine the winner.
