Nagpur: The Constitutional Conduct Group (CCG), a forum of 91 former IAS and IFS officers of the rank of secretaries and PCCFs, in an open letter to Union environment minister Bhupender Yadav on Wednesday demanded that the Green Credits notification be withdrawn expeditiously “as it makes it easy for private agencies to obtain forest land”, reports Vijay Pinjarkar.“The shortcomings are obvious. No amount of money can substitute for the land required for our forests, biodiversity, and wildlife to thrive. Yet, the government is trying to make it easy for entrepreneurs and industrialists to acquire forest land,” they said.
