This triggers an inflammatory reaction, which, when chronic, can manifest as weight-related symptoms, she explained, such as:
- Fluid retention due to inflammatory cytokine release
- Increased fat storage caused by disrupted insulin signaling
- Heightened appetite and cravings, as inflammation impacts hunger hormones like leptin

In many cases, what seems like weight gain might be inflammation-driven swelling and no additional fat. Identifying and eliminating trigger foods can break this cycle.
