Watch: Waqf bill | Who supports it, who are opposing it?
Minorities and parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju told reporters that the Lok Sabha’s business advisory committee (BAC) agreed on an eight-hour debate.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is in favour of the bill, is confident of the support of key allies such as the Janata Dal (United), the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), whose backing is crucial.

On the other hand, the Bill aimed at reforming the Waqf administration is being opposed by the INDIA bloc parties.
The bill is being opposed for the several changes it has introduced, including the inclusion of non-Muslim members in the Waqf Board and Central Waqf Council and giving more powers to district collectors.
