Visakhapatnam CP says drug abuse ruins families

Visakhapatnam: The City Police Commissioner Dr. CM Trivikram Varma said that drug abuse ruins health and families. He requested the students to avoid drugs and inform cops about suppliers of sedative drugs. He elaborated to the students about NDPS Act and the repercussions if anyone were found with sedative drugs such as ganja, MDMA, LDS, or others.

While creating awareness over NDPS Act and legal action, besides counseling around 2000 students of Gayatri Vidya Parishad in a convention center near the Cricket Stadium in PM Palem here on Tuesday, the city police chief requested the students not to bring a bad name to the family by involving in the consumption, transportation, and peddling of drugs, which would land them in Jails and also spoil the health.
He gave some examples of students involved in the consumption of ganja and become habitual of transportation of ganja to buy ganja for consumption. He mentioned a few case studies. Students took the pledge of no to drugs. The Zone-I Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) V Vidyasagar Naidu explained about the cases and punishments.

Psychologist Prof M Raju, Government Hospital for Mental Care superintendent K Ramireddy, Green Valley De-addiction Center MD Uma Raj, Gayatri Vidya Parishad Chairman Soma Raju said that Narcotics terrorism is much more dangerous than border terrorism. Students should not involve in drug consumption or any other activity related to drugs. Students should focus on their careers, they advised.
