Virat Kohli set to play Delhi’s Ranji Trophy match vs Railways | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli is all set to play Delhi’s last Ranji Trophy group stage match vs Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium from January 30. It is understood that there has been a conversation between Kohli and the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley, and he has confirmed his availability for the domestic fixture.
As TimesofIndia.com had reported earlier, Kohli had a neck sprain and was advised ten days’ rest for the same.

The men’s senior selection committee chaired by Gursharan Singh had initially named Kohli in the 22-member squad for the game vs Saurashtra with the rider of “subject to availability” but the list was later pruned to 21. The official list uploaded on the association’s website states that the team is for the next two matches but it is reliably learnt that a meeting will be convened again soon to pick the team for last group stage fixture of the season.
If all stays on track, Kohli will play a Ranji Trophy match after 13 years. There are strong indications of the former India captain training with the Ranji team before the match and more clarity is expected in the coming days.

The last round of the Ranji Trophy ends on February 2 and Kohli will then have to report for national duty for the ODI series vs England. The first match is in Nagpur on February 6.
A lot of India players are turning up for the respective states in the round from January 23 and more are expected to don the whites in the last game from January 30. Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal will turn up for Mumbai vs J&K, Shubman Gill has confirmed participation for Punjab, Ravindra Jadeja will play for Saurashtra and Mohammed Siraj is likely to play Hyderabad’s last group game. There is a bright possibility of KL Rahul turning out for Karnataka for their January 30 fixture.
