UPSC Rejects 43 Civil Services Exam Applications, Appeal Window Open Until March 17

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the rejection of 43 applications for the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025 due to non-payment of the application fee. The list of rejected candidates is available on the official UPSC website, upsc.gov.in in a PDF format consisting of the name, registration number, and transaction id. Candidates who believe their application was rejected by mistake can appeal until March 17, 2025.

Appeals must be submitted in person or via speed post to Kiran K. Arora, Under Secretary (CSP), Union Public Service Commission, Examination Hal Building, Hall No. 2, 4th Floor, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069 along with supporting documentation. Required documents include a copy of the system-generated challan or a bank statement/credit card statement confirming the fee payment. Failure to provide valid documentation by the deadline will result in the application remaining rejected.

“With reference to the to your application for Civil Service (Preliminary) examination, 2025, confirmation has NOT been received from the Bank authorities regarding receipt of Fee of Rs 100/- in respect of the following 43 candidates for Civil Service (Preliminary) Examination, 2025 listed herein. In view of the provisions contained in the Commission’s Examination Notice dated 21.01.2025 for the above examination uploaded on the commission’s website, applications of all these candidates for the said examination have been rejected,” reads the official notice.

UPSC CSE Preliminary Examination 2025

The UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025 is scheduled for May 25, 2025. The paper will be divided into two sections: General Studies with 100 questions and CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) with 80 questions, totaling 400 marks. Each correct answer will fetch two marks. For every incorrect answer, one-third of the marks will be deducted. Unanswered questions will not attract any penalty.

The UPSC aims to fill approximately 979 IPS, IAS, and IRS vacancies in the Commission through this recruitment drive along with 150 posts in the Indian Forest Service.
