Twin Daughters of an Imam in Kulgam, J&K, qualify NEET on Their First Attempt

With the announcement of the NTA NEET Result 2023, there come many interesting and unique success stories of the candidates. It is truly said that success does not bother any background of the persistent aspirants.

The twin sisters from Kulgam, Jammu & Kashmir proved it by qualifying for the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test- UG (NEET-UG) 2023 on their very first attempt. The sisters; Syed Sabiya and Syed Bismah have an inspiring Imam father and a supportive family and neighbors. The twin sisters, Sayed Sabiya and Sayed Bismah secured 625 and 570 marks respectively in the Entrance Examination for Medical Colleges. Syed Sabiya and Syed Bismah, natives of Watoo village in the South Kashmir district of Noorabad have become an epitome for the aspirants of NEET and other exams to shape their futures.

The NTA declared the NEET Result 2023 on June 13, 2023, and with that, the home of the twin daughters of the Imam in Jammu & Kashmir has been thriving. The relatives, neighbors, and well-wishers flocked to congratulate the family on the twins’ accomplishment. The girls credited their accomplishments to their family members, teachers, and benevolent neighbors. Sabiya, who attended a local Islamic model school till Class 3 before enrolling in a private school, stated that her teachers instilled in her the belief that she may do great things in life.

In one of her interviews, Sabiya stated; “Our parents supported us a lot since our childhood. The people in our area also boosted our morale. Everyone had a role to play in my success.” She further continued, “Thanks to my teachers, I nurtured the dream of becoming a Doctor or an IAS (Indian Administrative Service) Officer and doing something big in life.”

According to Bismah, “We are very happy that the results are good. We thank God for it. Our entire family is happy.” Bismah added that both sisters were concerned about the announcement of the NEET results. She further remarked that they used to rely significantly on one another during their schooling.

Bismah, on being interviewed said, “We might have encountered many more difficulties had any of us been alone. We supported each other throughout this journey to achieve this success.”

Sabiya stated that the sisters were delighted that both of them successfully cleared the NEET. “I want both of us to become good doctors and serve our people,” she said.

Their father, Sajad Hussain, the Imam (priest) at the local Jamia Masjid, believes that both religious and secular education is crucial for children. He opined, ” I thank God. I am extremely pleased with their achievement. Both religious teachings and worldly education are important. I taught my daughters about Islam, prayers, the Quran and gave them school education as well,” he said.

The siblings asserted that qualifying for the NEET requires intense concentration. “Identify your weaknesses and then take help to overcome those,” the twin sisters who qualified for the NEET 2023 said.
