Thousands of devotees on Sunday witnessed the Kumbhabhishekham at the Sri Devanatha Swamy Temple in Thiruvahindrapuram.
The temple wore a festive look when at 10.5 a.m., the holy water was poured on the kalasams of the gopurams and vimanams amid the chanting of Vedic hymns and associated rituals. The chanting of “Govinda” by the assembled devotees filled the air.
Tamil Nadu Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare M.R.K. Panneerselvam presided over the auspicious ceremony. Cuddalore Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar and officials were present.
Renovation of the temple was taken up at an expenditure of over ₹2.48 crore. Devotees were provided with various amenities including LED screens on which the holy event was live streamed. Over 1,000 police personnel were deployed for the smooth conduct of the event.
