Yes, pineapple is known to have many positive effects on the sexual health of both men and women. Dr Danny Laliwala, Consultant of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre suggests that pineapple has the following effects on sexual health:
Effects on the sexual health of women
-Being rich in Vitamin C, it helps to reduce premenstrual symptoms such as cramps and bloating. It also helps in decreasing the fatigue felt during menstruation.
-It helps increase the libido in women by increasing the blood circulation in the vaginal area.
-Contrary to popular belief, pineapples are also quite beneficial during pregnancy. It prevents dehydration, nausea, and vomiting in pregnant women. However, it should be consumed in limit otherwise it can lead to uterine contractions during pregnancy.

Effects on sexual health of men
-Pineapple is known to increase the penile and testicular blood flow, which can boost libido and aid in maintaining an erection.
-Its anti inflammatory action can possibly help in increasing testosterone levels as well, however there is no direct evidence to support this yet.

-It can also give the body a quick burst of energy, thus increasing sexual stamina.
Does it also effect fertility?
“There is no direct evidence that pineapple can increase fertility.” said Dr Laliwala. However, pineapple is known to increase sperm motility due to its high vitamin C, manganese and zinc content. Its anti-inflammatory action and anti-coagulation properties also helps in implantation of the embryos, thereby increasing the pregnancy rates.
What other benefits does pineapple have on the body?
-The manganese in pineapple helps to strengthen both bones and teeth.
-Since it is rich in vitamin C and has antioxidant properties, it helps in fighting cold and other minor diseases. It also improves wound healing and helps in faster recovery after surgery.

-It helps in digestion of food and prevents bloating because of bromelain, a mix of enzymes present in it.
-It helps in preventing cancer and delays ageing too because of its antioxidant properties.
Dr Laliwala recommends that it is better to eat the pineapple core rather than having pineapple juice or the canned fruit.
