The multinational K-pop boy group uniting cultures through music

The upcoming nine-member multinational K-pop boy group, POLARIX, consisting of Chinese, Korean, Thai and Taiwanese members, is all set to debut in 2025. Formed under Cube Entertainment and Idol Youth Entertainment, the group emerged through IQIYI’s survival show “Starlight Boys”.

On December 28, 2024, the show’s finale aired, revealing the group’s official name as POLARIX. The final lineup includes Pentor, Hangyul, Lee Junhyuk, Xu Shihuan, Yang Donghwa, Lee Daeul, Zai, Shao Ziheng, and Xin Che. Before their official debut, let’s take a closer look at the members and get to know them better.

Shao Ziheng

Birth Name: Shao Zi Heng

Birthday: October 19, 2004

Born in Beijing, China, he is the son of actor Shao Bing and actress Zhang Pei. A former SM Entertainment trainee (2018–2022), he trained for four years but did not debut. He later joined Chromosome Entertainment (2022–2024) but was never officially introduced. He made his solo debut as Owen with the single “Reckless” on October 10, 2024. Ziheng also debuted as an actor in the 2015 film “Baby, I’m Sorry”.

Lee Junhyuk

Birth Name: Lee Jun Hyuk

Birthday: May 16, 2000

Born in Oryu-dong, Guro-gu, Seoul, South Korea, he was a contestant on “Produce X 101”, ranking 70th and being eliminated in the first round. He spent 2 years and 3 months in training before joining the show. He trained under DSP Media from 2019 to 2024. He is a former member of MIRAE (2021–2024) and worked part-time at a cafe on weekends following the group’s disbandment.

Xu Shihuan

Birth Name: Xu Shi Huan/ Shi Fan

The Chinese-born Shihuan was a contestant on the survival show “Fan Pick” as well, but he left the competition due to personal reasons. He trained at Flat9 Dance and Vocal Academy and was previously under WAKE ONE. Shihuan is most confident in his visuals.

Xin Che

Birthday: August 30, 2006

Born in Hubei, China, he officially joined UN24 in June 2023 and later participated in the Chinese Idol Athletics Championships on December 19, 2023. Despite having only one month of training as an idol, he released a single titled “浪漫指南” on August 30, 2024.

Pentor
