Tata Tiago facelift launch details, Tigor facelift, cosmetic updates, next-gen platform

Tata Motors has confirmed in its latest investors presentation that it is readying yet another mid-lifecycle update for the Tiago hatchback and the Tigor compact sedan. Both models are expected to launch sometime in the calender year 2025.

  1. Tiago and Tigor to get second mid-lifecycle updates in FY2025
  2. Likely to be just cosmetic and equipment updates
  3. All-new platform being evaluated for next-gen Tiago, Tigor

Tata Tiago, Tigor facelifts: what to expect?

The updates to the Tiago and Tigor will likely just be cosmetic in nature. Both models were last updated with a facelift in January 2020, and have now started to show their age against much newer competition. So, a revised front and rear end with new bumpers, headlamps and tail lamps can be expected, along with the addition of new features and upholstery for the interior.

The compact sedan segment, in particular, is seeing a resurgence with the new Maruti Dzire as well as the next-gen Honda Amaze, so Tata Motors has an opportunity to ride this wave. Meanwhile, in the hatchback segment, the Swift received a generational update this year and the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios also received a facelift earlier in 2023. All aforesaid models are a lot more contemporary and better equipped than Tata’s compact cars, and that certainly reflects in their sales numbers.

The current-generation of the Tiago and Tigor were first introduced in 2016, but the platform underpinning them is even older, tracing its roots all the way back to the Indica. There are talks of the next-generation Tiago and Tigor moving on to a new and a more modern platform, but the company is still finalizing the details of this. It is therefore a while away, and could see the light of the day only by late 2026 or even 2027. The facelifts, therefore, will be crucial in keeping the Tiago and the Tigor up to date and relevant in the face of its competition.
