Tata Curvv CNG, 360 degree camera, dual zone climate control, powertrain, launch timeline

Tata Motors’ upcoming Creta rival is also likely to get auto-park assist and dual-zone climate control.

Tata Motors has confirmed that the Curvv will get internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric powertrains, however, recent concept sketches indicate that the upcoming midsize SUV could get CNG too. The sketches show that the climate control panel on the dashboard has a CNG button along with a few more interesting features. But more on that later.

And while it isn’t confirmed yet, the likelihood of the CNG kit and the features going into production is high as the sketches have been provided by Tata Motors itself.

Tata Curvv likely to get CNG kit

The Curvv is likely to get Tata Motors’ new twin-cylinder technology for the CNG tanks that helps free up boot space. Tata Motors has already filed a patent for this technology, which first debuted on the Altroz CNG and is confirmed to trickle down to the Tiago and Tigor CNG as well. The split CNG tank is already confirmed to come on the Punch CNG as well, as it was showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. The upcoming Nexon facelift is also a contender to get a factory-fitted CNG kit, and, as the Nexon and Curvv will share most of the technical components, both are likely to get the twin-cylinder set-up.

The Curvv EV is expected to get a range of 400-500km and a dual motor set-up with all-wheel drive. The ICE version of the Curvv will get a 125hp, 225Nm, 1.2-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Tata Curvv expected features

According to the sketches, the Curvv is likely to get a 360-degree camera, auto park assist and dual-zone climate control, and, while the latter can be accessed via two toggles, the camera and park assist features can be controlled via buttons on the top-right corner.

Recent spy shots and patent filings show that the Nexon facelift, which will likely go on sale later this year, will share most of its switchgear with the Curvv, implying that it will also get these aforementioned features.

Tata Curvv expected launch timeline

Both EV and ICE versions of the Curvv are expected to launch in 2024, with the EV expected to make its debut first.
