In 2024, PT. Ever Shine Tex Tbk, a leading textile manufacturer in Indonesia, celebrated its 50th anniversary. Established in 1974, the company has evolved from a small-scale producer into an industry leader, recognized for its focus on quality, innovation, and sustainability.
The agenda for the event included four key segments. First, the discussion on OEKO-TEX STeP certification featured insights from Mr. Marc Sidler, who emphasized the growing global demand for sustainable textiles. He highlighted the increasing consumer and brand preference for eco-friendly and ethically produced materials. Second, the factory tour showcased Ever Shine Tex’s sustainability initiatives, including the installation of a 1.3-megawatt solar panel system at its production facility, which significantly reduces its environmental footprint. Third, a collaborative podcast talk show raised awareness about sustainable practices in the textile industry, focusing on achieving OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certification and addressing solutions to help Indonesia’s textile sector meet global requirements. Lastly, PT. Ever Shine Tex Tbk presented its sustainability initiatives, such as reducing water consumption through closed-loop systems, recycling textile waste, and adopting clean energy solutions like solar power, which serve as a model for other regional companies.
The company’s representatives discussed their progress in implementing eco-friendly production techniques, reducing water usage, and enhancing worker welfare. While they have made significant strides, they acknowledged challenges in fully aligning with OEKO-TEX STeP certification standards.
The meeting concluded with a clear action plan to further embed sustainable practices into Ever Shine’s operations, ensuring competitiveness in the evolving textile industry. TESTEX also explained the details of STeP certification, and PT. Ever Shine Tex Tbk expressed its intention to begin the certification process early next year.
