Nagpur: Innovation is an important aspect in a field like technology and AI-based systems. Though knowledge is not essentially an innovation, it is equally important. Creation of knowledge and translating that knowledge into wealth is important for making India a developed country by the time of its centenary independence, said Padma Shri Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay, director of the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata, here on Monday.
Bandopadhyay was speaking as the chief guest at the third international conference on ‘Paradigm shifts in Communication, Embedded Systems, Machine Learning, and Signal Processing — PCEMS 2024′. The two-day conference, organised at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), features keynote speakers from all over India, Spain, and the USA who would be sharing knowledge with students and delegates from various colleges through various workshops, talks and technical sessions.
Bandopadhyay also urged students to take part in innovative idea creation and think outside-the-box and ahead of time.
Director of VNIT, Premlal Patel, briefed the attendees about the components of the PCEMS 2024 and the different focal topics of the conference, including communication, AI-based systems, machine learning and more.
Petia Radneva from the University of Barcelona commended VNIT for organising the conference, talking about how students and speakers could benefit from each other through the various workshops and interactive sessions. She also spoke on contributions to technological advancements stemming from this conference through the students.
After the inaugural session, the dignitaries visited the stalls put up by VNIT’s Department of Electronics and Communication, and private organisations such as Hi-Tech Resistors Pvt Ltd, Viprush Technologies, Microembedded Technologies from Pune and more. Dignitaries and faculty interacted with individuals at the stalls.
