The department of tourism is set to launch a tourist circuit in Mysuru to attract visitors round the year. Additionally, the department plans to introduce a single-ticket entry system for tourist attractions such as Mysuru zoo and Karanji Lake.
A detailed project report has been prepared for the development of key tourist spots, including the Regional Museum of Natural History (RMNH), with an estimated investment of INR 8 crore. These initiatives aim to enhance the tourism experience and promote Mysuru as a premier tourist destination.
Under Union govt sponsored Swadesh Darshan 2.0 project, the department of tourism has prepared a detailed project report (DPR) linking all these three tourist spots which are closely located one to another in the heart of the city.
As most of the tourists return after visiting only Mysuru zoo due to lack of connectivity to other these two tourists’ spots, parking and other issues, the department has worked out the plan to create separate entrances to enter Karanji Lake and RMNH after visiting the zoo.
Interlinking all the tourists’ spots not only helps the visitors to enjoy the sights of all these three tourist spots at a time, it also provides opportunities for tourists to spend the whole day. It also not only helps the department to attract tourists but well as generate jobs, revenue, also stakeholders involved in hotels establishments, hospitality, organisations involved in tourism promotion activities in the city
As per the project, tourists who enter from the zoo entrance side can exit through RMNH gate. Battery-operated vehicles facilities will also be arranged for tourists’ spots in all the tourist spots once the project is realised.
Under the plan, the department will construct a public plaza at the Mysuru zoo parking lot opposite its main entrance. Visitors to these places can park their vehicles at the parking lot which will be exclusively reserved for them. They can rest at Public Plaza in which luggage counters will be set up.Butterfly park, zip line, eco-bridge planned at Karanji Lake
As Karanji Lake has only boating and walking lanes facilities, the department has also planned to use these lakes by setting up butterfly park, zip line, constructing hanging bridge, eco-bridge and other features to attract the visitors under this project. Restaurants, guest houses and hotels will also be there around these tourist attractions.
Joint director of tourism MK Savitha said that the department is making preparations to submit the DPR to higher authorities. Once the government gives both administrative and financial approval, work will be started soon, she said.
Interlinking all these three tourist attractions not only helps tourists to spend the whole day in Mysuru, it also helps local hotels, tourism and hospitality sector involved in promotion of tourism, said C Narayana Gowda, president of Hotel Owners Association.
