Salman Khan’s Sikandar, directed by A.R. Murugadoss and featuring Rashmika Mandanna, has continued the actor’s legacy of delivering box office blockbusters during Eid. The film, which hit theatres on a Sunday, recorded an opening day collection of Rs. 30.06 crore, securing its position as the fourth-highest Eid opening day grosser of all time. While the initial figures were slightly below expectations, trade analysts predict a significant surge in collections over the extended holiday period.
Eid has traditionally been a lucrative time for Salman Khan, with many of his films dominating the festival’s box office records. Leading the chart of highest Eid openers is Bharat, which set a massive benchmark with Rs. 42.30 crore on its first day. The wrestling drama Sultan follows closely with Rs. 36.54 crore, while Ek Tha Tiger takes the third spot at Rs. 32.93 crore. With Sikandar now standing at the fourth position, it has outperformed several of Salman’s previous Eid blockbusters, reinforcing his hold over the festive box office.
Among the films that Sikandar has surpassed is Race 3, which collected Rs. 29.17 crore on its first day. Despite mixed reviews, Race 3 had benefited from Salman’s massive fan following and the Eid holiday. Meanwhile, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, one of Salman’s most critically acclaimed films, had a slightly lower opening of Rs. 27.25 crore but went on to become one of his highest-grossing films. Similarly, Kick opened at Rs. 26.40 crore, further highlighting how Sikandar has outpaced several major releases.
Further down the list, Bodyguard (Rs. 21.60 crore) and Tubelight (Rs. 21.15 crore) had comparatively lower openings, with Tubelight struggling due to its unconventional narrative for a Salman Khan film. Meanwhile, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (Rs. 15.81 crore) and Dabangg (Rs. 14.50 crore) round off the top ten highest Eid openers, showcasing the variations in Salman’s box office performances over the years.
With Sikandar securing its place among the top Eid openers, its future trajectory will be key to watch. The film has a strong chance of sustaining momentum through the holiday period, potentially surpassing some of its predecessors in overall collections. Salman Khan’s dominance during Eid remains undisputed, and Sikandar has further cemented his position as the festival’s box office king.
