Schools Closed In Patna And Darbhanga Districts Amid Intense Cold Weather

All schools in Patna, up to class 8, have been closed until January 18, 2025. The district’s schools were scheduled to reopen on January 16, however, due to the severe temperature dip and prevailing cold weather conditions in Patna District Magistrate Chandra Shekhar Singh extended the winter break for all private and government schools,s including pre-schools and Anganwari centre, until Saturday. All schools up to class 8 have been closed in Patna since January 5.

Singh has further ordered cautious conduct of classes from the 9th onwards between 9 AM to 3.30 PM. “Classes from IX onwards will continue with due precautions between 09:00 AM and 03:30 PM. The academic activities related to Board Examinations will be exempted,” stated the official notification.

Darbhanga has also closed all the schools for children up to class 8 until January 17, 2025, amid severe cold weather conditions. Darbhanga administration has also allowed continuing classes from Class 9th onwards with due precautions between 9 AM and 3.30 PM.

Meanwhile, Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh has also declared holidays for all the schools in the districts. Schools will remain closed for up to class 8 from Jnauary 16 to January 18, 2025.

Delhi To Hold Hybrid Classes

Schools resume in Delhi for all the classes today, January 16, 2024. Delhi declared winter vacation for all government schools from January 1 to 15, 2025.

However, the Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) on Wednesday, instructed all schools to conduct hybrid classes for students up to class 9 and class 11. This directive followed the implementation of stage four restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan, due to a significant decline in the city’s air quality.
