Sabyasachi celebrates 25 years in fashion with Mumbai fashion show

Luxury clothing brand Sabyasachi has completed a quarter century in fashion and celebrated the milestone by showcasing his designs at a star studded runway show at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre, featuring more than 100 models and showstoppers Deepika Padukone and Christy Turlington.

Along with a diverse group of models, Bollywood celebrity Deepika Padukone walked the runway in a white three piece set, accessorised with thick black framed glasses and stacked statement jewellery. Global model Christy Turlington also walked the ramp for the designer with her inclusion in the show highlighting the brand’s growing global focus. 

“Together we are creating India’s first global luxury brand,” announced Sabyasachi on its Facebook page. As the label has expanded across India and into global markets, Sabyasachi has also expanded its product offering to include ‘High Jewellery’ and eclectic fusion wear. 

“I’m recreating Calcutta in Bombay,” the designer told T2 News ahead of the show. Known for his opulent take on the traditional culture of Calcutta (Kolkata), designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee presented colourful traditional and fusion and occasion wear at the showcase using textiles ranging from rich brocades to fluid satins with ample sparkle and mixing classic sarees with global silhouettes. 

Bollywood celebrity Alia Bhatt attended the event in a custom black saree with a miniature bejewelled blouse. “25 years of crafting dreams, preserving heritage, and redefining elegance,” announced Alia Bhatt on Instagram, sharing images of her bespoke look for the event. “To me Sabya, you are more than a designer- you’re a visionary and a storyteller… Your work isn’t just fashion, it’s art, blending tradition and innovation with unmatched finesse.”
