NEW DELHI: The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which begins on Saturday, is generating a lot of excitement among fans due to the participation of some of India’s top players, including Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Shami.
The tournament coincides with the upcoming IPL mega auction.
Hardik will play under the captaincy of Krunal Pandya in the Baroda team for the upcoming T20 tournament.
“Reporting to my brother for Baroda duty in Indore,” Hardik Pandya wrote on X.
Pandya was retained by the Mumbai Indians ahead of the auction, which is scheduled to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 23 and 24.
The all-rounder’s decision to play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy aligns with the BCCI’s policy of requiring leading cricketers to participate in domestic tournaments.
Hardik was the vice-captain of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup 2024. He bowled the crucial last over and dismissed the dangerous David Miller in the final match.
Pandya’s primary goals will be to maintain his match fitness and assist Baroda in winning a rare championship.
