Automatic variants of mass market cars cost slightly higher than their manual counterparts, but the ease of operation and the comfort they offer make them a popular choice. Given the increasing popularity of automatic cars and SUVs, manufacturers have started offering them across multiple trim levels in recent times. Here’s a list of all SUVs in India under Rs 10 lakh that are available with an automatic gearbox in March 2024.
6. Tata Nexon
Starting price: Rs 10 lakh
With a starting price of Rs 10 lakh for the Smart + AMT variant, the Tata Nexon sweeps into the list by a whisker. It gets a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 120hp and 170Nm torque, and is mated to a 6-speed AMT gearbox. Higher petrol variants are also available with an optional 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
5. Maruti Suzuki Fronx
Starting price: Rs 8.88 lakh
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx’s entry-level 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional 5-speed AMT, with prices for the latter starting from Rs 8.88 lakh for the Delta AMT variant. The engine produces 90hp and 113Nm, returning a claimed fuel efficiency of 22.89kpl with the AMT gearbox.
4. Hyundai Exter
Starting price: Rs 8.23 lakh
The Hyundai Exter also makes use of a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine generating 83hp and 114Nm torque. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard, while a 5-speed AMT is available from the S variant onwards, with prices starting from Rs 8.23 lakh.
3. Tata Punch
Starting price: Rs 7.60 lakh
Similar to its rivals Fronx and Exter, the Tata Punch also gets a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine but with one less cylinder. The engine puts out 88hp and 115Nm, and can be had with either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT. The Tata Punch Adventure AMT is the most affordable automatic variant on the SUV with a starting price of Rs 7.60 lakh.
2. Renault Kiger
Staring price: Rs 7.10 lakh
The Renault Kiger is offered with two engine options – 1.0-litre petrol (72hp) and 1.0-litre turbo petrol (100hp). The former is reserved for entry-level variants, and gets a 5-speed manual gearbox along with an optional 5-speed AMT. Pricing for the Renault Kiger automatic starts from Rs 7.10 lakh.

Starting price: Rs 6.60 lakh
The Nissan Magnite is not only the most affordable SUV in India, but also the most affordable automatic SUV with prices starting from just Rs 6.60 lakh. Similar to its cousin Renault Kiger, the Magnite offers a choice between 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine options, with the former available with a 5-speed AMT gearbox from XE variant onwards.
