Indian ace shuttler PV Sindhu teamed up with Arunachal Pradesh MP Kiren Rijiju and engaged in a friendly game of badminton for the Fit India Movement at the Constitution Club in New Delhi on Saturday.

The 29-year-old badminton star tied the knot with Sai, the Executive Director of Posidex, on December 22. The intimate marriage ceremony took place in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

Now, a couple weeks after the marriage, the badminton star was seen engaging in a friendly game alongside Rijiju, who has been a supporter of the Indian shuttler, taking to the court for some doubles action.

Chasing the holy grail of lost form, Sindhu made multiple changes to her coaching staff and moved base to Bengaluru at the end of last year to train under the legendary Prakash Padukone but early exits from tournaments continued, highlighting her struggles with form and fitness.

Sindhu showed flashes of her brilliance, reaching the Malaysia Masters final but her dream of an Olympic treble was dashed following a pre-quarterfinal exit, marking her first medal-less campaign in eight years.

The 29-year-old from Hyderabad, however, closed her season on a high by clinching the Syed Modi International title and is all set to tie the nuptial knot by the end of this month.

Sindhu is regarded as one of India’s greatest athletes with five world championship medals, including a gold in 2019, besides her silver and bronze at the Olympic Games.

The champion badminton player won back-to-back Olympic medals at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, and achieved a career-high world ranking of No. 2 in 2017.
