PV Sindhu was at her wittiest while replying to a viral post on X on Wednesday.
Indian shuttler PV Sindhu got social media laughing on Wednesday with her two-word reply to the viral post about the wrong spelling of the Puma brand on a retail store billboard.
The store board read ‘PVMA’ and a user put a photo of it on X (formerly Twitter) to ask, ‘I just saw this puma store with the wrong spelling?? who did this😭’. Sindhu, in brilliant tongue-in-cheek fashion, replied, ‘I did’, apparently pointing at how her name’s initials also read ‘PV’ for Pusarla Venkata.
Sindhu is currently playing in the India Open of the BWF World Tour Super 750 international badminton tournament. She played Taiwanese Sung Shuo-yun in the Round of 32 on Tuesday and won 21-14, 22-20.
Can PV Sindhu get even better?
Earlier on Wednesday, Indonesian coach Irwansyah Adi Pratama, who has been roped in by the Badminton Association of India (BAI) to train women’s singles players, spoke about how he’s planning to make Sindhu an even better player.
He said if Sindhu develops more aggression in her game, she can not only come back from her recent slump in form but also reach new heights.
“Every player has been through something like this. What I’ve learned, I want to pass on to her. I’ll try my best. I believe she can still do it. She can come back and reach an even higher level than before. I do believe in it. That’s the reason I’m here,” Irwansyah, a former long-term head coach of the Indonesian men’s singles team, told PTI.
“My plan is to make her more of an attacking player. She has all the right qualities, so I just want to build on that and push her further. I want to change her game to be more aggressive — more speed and power.”
“I want to help her enjoy herself more on the court. It’s important that she enjoys it because when she enjoys it, she’ll become more confident. That’s the main focus right now — working hard to get her to believe in herself again,” Irwansyah said.
Sindhu will now face Japan’s Manami Suizu in the Round of 16 on Thursday.
