Madhu Chopra recently recalled the iconic moment when her daughter and global superstar Priyanka Chopra won the beauty pageant becoming Miss World in 2000 along with two other Indians – Lara Dutta and Dia Mirza taking over the Miss Universe and Miss Asia Pacific in the same year, respectively. The proud mother revealed how her young daughter refused to wear a bikini for the swimsuit round, insisting on winning the round with dignity.

In an interaction with Lehren, Madhu Chopra recalled the moment and said, “Priyanka ka behaviour, uska conduct, kahin bhi… dekho swimwear mein bhi, they said, ‘Two piece pehno.’ (Priyanka’s behaviour and conduct have always been on point, everywhere. Even during the swimwear competition in the Miss World pageant, the organisers said, ‘wear a two-piece’), she said, ‘Na.’ So, she maintained her dignity with professionalism. Ye nahi ki tantrum… (She didn’t throw tantrums). So, they actually respected her aise kehne ke liye (for doing that)”.
Furthermore, Mrs. Chopra also revealed that since Chopra was young then, she received immense help from her co-contestant Lara Dutta. “Lara taught her how to drape, Lara taught her how to walk, Lara taught her how to apply make-up on her own. Because they had to do it all by themselves. Priyanka toh kuchh nahi karti thi, sirf kajal (Priyanka didn’t do any of this, except put kajal). So Lara is another high-quality person,” she revealed to the portal.
As of now, Priyanka Chopra, aka Priyanka Chopra Jonas is one of the most loved actresses not only in Bollywood but also internationally. On the film front, the actress has two films – namely, the action-comedy Heads of State as well as in the swashbuckler action-adventure drama The Bluff in the pipeline for release. She is also expected to return to Indian Cinema with the ambitious untitled film, directed by S.S. Rajamouli and starring Mahesh Babu.
