Premier League side Arsenal romped to a dominant 5-1 win over holders Manchester City at the Emirates on Sunday.

Martin Odegaard opened the scoring for the Gunners before Erling Haaland levelled for City. However strikes from Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kai Havertz and Ethan Nwaneri condemned Pep Guardiola’s men to a heavy defeat.

Arsenal reached fifty points for the season with their show of dominance over the defending champions as the second-placed Gunners look to stay in the title race with Liverpool six points ahead of the London side with a game in hand.

In yet another iteration of Mikel Arteta going up against former mentor Pep Guardiola, Odegaard gave the hosts early joy with a finish from close range after Havertz set his skipper within two minutes of kickoff as the Gunners inched ahead,

Haaland’s header in the 55th minute of the game pegged the champions back on level terms, but their joy was short-lived as Partey found the back of the net, despite a deflection, immediately after to send the Emirates into delirium.

Arsenal product Lewis-Skelly picked an incredible time to bag his first goal for the Gunners as he sent a bulge in the net six minutes after Partey’s strike to extend their cushion to two goals.

However, Guardiola’s misery did not end there as Havertz turned scorer in the 76th minute of the game to take the wind out of City sails. The German had the opportunity to send the Gunners two up early on, but missed the target in woeful fashion before finding some redemption with his second-half strike.

While the Arsenal fans sang in joy, Nwaneri’s curler in the third minute of added time put the cherry on top of the cake as the Gunners faithful stayed back after the game to exult in their victory.
