Kiara Advani is all set to make her Met Gala debut this year. In February, the actor announced her first pregnancy with her husband, Sidharth Malhotra.
Last year, Kiara made her debut at the Cannes Red Carpet, attending the Red Sea Film Foundation’s Women in Cinema Gala Dinner. Advani wore a pink and black Old Hollywood-style gown from Nedret Taciroglu, complete with lace detailing.
Other Bollywood actors like Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra have previously walked the Met Gala red carpet. The Highway star was the only Indian actor on the carpet last year, wearing a custom-made Sabyasachi sari.
Handcrafted in India with intricate details and embellished with millions in gems, Alia Bhatt’s look paid homage to tradition and the “Sleeping Beauties” theme. (file)
Understand the theme of Met Gala 2025
This year’s Met Gala, set to take place on May 5 at the iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, is shaping up to be one of the most meaningful yet in terms of diversity. The theme for 2025 is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” a tribute to the rich legacy of Black fashion and the influential role that tailoring has played in shaping identity, creativity, and self-expression in the Black community.
The theme is inspired by the work of Monica L Miller, a professor at Barnard College, whose book Slaves to Fashion explores the cultural and political impact of what’s known as “Black dandyism”—a style movement about individuality and resistance, transforming it into something visually striking and socially significant.
For the first time in its history, the Costume Institute is dedicating its major spring exhibition entirely to Black designers, with a special focus on menswear—something the institute hasn’t highlighted in over twenty years.
A dress code that’s all about personal style
The official dress code for the 2025 Met Gala is “Tailored for You,” and it’s exactly what it sounds like—an invitation to embrace the power of made-to-measure fashion. Guests are encouraged to lean into tailoring that reflects their personality, background, or story, whether that means a sharp suit, a custom piece with cultural flair, or a modern twist on classic silhouettes. It’s not just about looking polished—it’s about making a statement and owning it.
This year’s co-chairs include an impressive mix of men’s fashion icons: actor Colman Domingo, music stars A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams, racing champion Lewis Hamilton, and of course, Vogue’s Anna Wintour. LeBron James will serve as the honorary chair, while the newly revived Host Committee includes influential names like André 3000, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Usher.
