“In recent years, we have collaborated with institutions such as Beijing University Hospital to conduct dermatology research, deepen our understanding of Asian skin specificities, and identify the needs of Chinese patients and consumers. The establishment of the China Innovation Center is a significant milestone; it will serve as a catalyst for innovation and competitiveness in the Chinese market and the broader Asian market,” said Eric Ducournau, CEO of the Pierre Fabre Group. The dermocosmetics branch of the company, which includes brands like Ducray, A-Derma, Klorane, and Avène, recorded a revenue of 1.4 billion euros in 2022, marking an increase of 11.7%. This branch now accounts for 55% of the group’s overall sales.

Moreover, Pierre Fabre China is currently the leading international subsidiary of the company’s dermocosmetics division, driven by the success of Avène, Klorane, and René Furterer, the hair care brand. “With an Avène product sold every 5 seconds, China is one of the main contributors that will help the brand achieve one billion euros by the end of the year,” the company stated in a press release.

The Pierre Fabre China Innovation Center comprises a formulation laboratory and a dedicated space for consumer testing. It will be staffed by a team of scientists, researchers, and technicians specialized in biomedicine and pharmacological innovation.
