Deepika started off her day sealing a thrilling 6-5 win against Estonia’s Reena Parnat and then put away Netherlands’ Quinty Roeffen in the Round of 16 with ease in a 6-2 win.
After an abysmal start to the Paris Olympics campaign from the Indian Archery contingent, Deepika Kumari finally showed some fight and promise by securing her place in the the Round of 16 of Women’s Individual Archery on Wednesday.
Deepika started off her day sealing a thrilling 6-5 win against Estonia’s Reena Parnat and then put away Netherlands’ Quinty Roeffen in the Round of 16 with ease in a 6-2 win.
In her bout against Netherlands’ Quinty Roeffen, Deepika started off in blazing fashion scoring 29 points in her first set, edging out Roeffen by one point to secure the first two points.
Roeffen fought back in fine fashion herself, shooting her way to two 10s, to get one better off Deepika and tie the match up at 2-2.
The tide though would turn in favour of the Indian again, just like the wind did, with Roeffen completely missing out on the target to gift Deepika an easy set win of 28-17.
A visibly shaken Roeffen would find it difficult to regain her momentum in the following set as well, as Deepika eased her way to another easy set of 29-23 as Deepika Kumari sealed the game 6-2.
