While interacting with students at the Pariksha Pe Charcha 2025 programme in New Delhi, PM Narendra Modi advised students not to be afraid of failure and to look at success holistically, not just as academic success. Giving the example of cricket, he said that when you watch cricket, the sounds of sixes and fours come from the stadium, but what does the batsman do? He focuses on the ball without worrying about the pressure. His attention is on the ball. Students must also decide in the exam what to study, and how much to study. Students mustn’t let their minds get distracted, he added.

“Succeed in life and not just exams. For that, turn your failures into lessons. Cricketers watch their matches to realise their mistakes. Turn your failures into your teacher. Observe your strengths and work on them to succeed in life,” the prime minister told students.

After a student expressed disappointment about scoring 93% instead of her target of 95%, PM Modi told her it wasn’t a failure but a success. He said it’s important to set achievable goals and praised her for aiming slightly higher than her abilities. He added, “If your target is 97%, you’ll reach 95%.”

He also advised students not to isolate themselves. “Seek help from others to motivate yourself. Connect with family members or seniors for support. Challenge yourself and set a target. Achieving that goal will boost your confidence,” PM Modi said.

He also advised on how to manage time before board exams. “Think about how you can use your time in the best way. Write on a piece of paper what you want to do the next day. Think about how you can use your time in the best way. Write on a piece of paper what you want to do the next day. Don’t use your maximum time in subjects you like most and least in subjects you don’t like. Do the reverse, take tough subjects as a challenge,” he said.

He also asked teachers not to just give advice to students but also to try and see what qualities they have. They will feel you are taking an interest in them. Teachers should discover and nurture students’ unique talents, he told teachers.

This year more than 3.30 crore students have registered for PPC. Along with them, more than 20 lakh teachers and more than 5.5 lakh parents have also registered.
