NTA issues important notice for PwD/PwBD candidates appearing for JEE Mains 2025: Check details here

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a notification for candidates in the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) categories who will appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2025. According to the guidelines, candidates in these categories will be provided with an additional hour of compensatory time for the three-hour JEE Main 2025 examination. In other words, PwD and PwBD candidates will have up to four hours to complete the JEE Mains 2025 paper. Additionally, the facility of a scribe will be granted upon the production of relevant certificates.
The NTA issued these guidelines in response to multiple queries related to the availability of scribes and compensatory time for such candidates.
The official notification reads, “The word ‘extra time or additional time’ that is being currently used should be changed to ‘compensatory time’ and the same should not be less than 20 minutes per hour of the examination for persons who are allowed use of scribe/reader/lab assistant. All the candidates with benchmark disabilities who are eligible for availing the facility of scribe in terms of guidelines IV may be allowed additional time of minimum one hour for examination of three hours whether they use the facility of scribe or not. In case the duration of the examination is less than an hour, then the duration of the additional time should be allowed on a pro-rata basis. Additional time should not be less than 5 minutes and should be in multiples of 5.”
