Nitori’s first India store opens in Mumbai (#1688103)

Japanese home decor, furniture, and accessories business Nitori has opened its first brick-and-mortar store in India. Located in Mumbai’s R City Mall in Ghatkopar, the outlet measures an expansive 32,000 square feet.

“Foraying into the Indian market, Japan’s number one furniture brand, Nitori, opens its first store at R City Mall, Mumbai,” announced R City on Facebook. “Redefine your living spaces with timeless Japanese designs and unmatched quality. Be part of this new chapter in home living!”

The store opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony which was followed by a cultural program and a product showcase of Nitori’s numerous collections. Nitori has ambitious expansion plans for the international market and aims to reach a total of 3,000 global stores by 2032. 

“This store is special because it marks our entry into the Indian furniture and home furnishing industry, an important and promising market for us,” said Nitori Holdings Co’s executive vice president in charge of overseas businesses Masanori Takeda, India Retailing reported. “Above all, it allows us to advance our mission to enrich the homes of people all over the world, by catering to the unique needs of Indian homes. We are excited to offer Indian consumers premium-quality products and a haven for all their home furnishing needs.”

Nitori joins international brands including H&M, Aldo, Birkenstock, and Mango in R City Mall. The shopping centre measures 1.2 million square feet and has reported approximately one million monthly visitors.
