Nissan X-Trail powertrain, specs

The India-spec X-Trail is powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that comes with a 12V mild-hybrid system, and produces 163hp and 300Nm of torque. The powertrain will be paired with a shift-by-wire CVT auto gearbox that is said to have negligible rubberband effect. What’s most notable about this powertrain is that it features Nissan’s patented variable compression technology that alters the compression ratio to optimise either performance or fuel efficiency, depending on yiur needs.

Nissan X-Trail colours, features and interior trim

Nissan will be offering the X-Trail in three colour options in India – Diamond Black, Pearl White, Champagne Silver – and they’ll riding on 20-inch wheels as standard.

In terms of features, the X-Trail gets a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, wireless smartphone charger, keyless entry, drive modes, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold function and cruise control and push-button start. Safety kit on the India-spec X-Trail includes seven airbags, auto wipers, ABS and EBD, traction control, a limited-slip diff, hill-start assist and front parking sensors.

India will only get the X-Trail in a 7-seater configuration. The second row has a 40/20/40 split-folding, sliding and reclining functions, while the third row gets 50/50 split-folding and reclining functions.

Nissan X-Trail expected price, rivals

Considering the SUV will be brought in as a CBU, the X-Trail’s prices are expected to be in the Rs 40 lakh-45 lakh region. This would put it in direct contention with the Skoda Kodiaq (Rs 39.99 lakh) and the Jeep Meridian (Rs 29.49 lakh-39.83 lakh).
