AMRAVATI: The National Investigation Agency arrested a youth from Amravati district in Maharashtra on suspicion of having links with the Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), police said.
Following intelligence inputs about the youth’s six-month communication with the outlawed JeM, authorities carried out a night-time operation in the district’s Chhaya Nagar area.
Police officials confirmed the individual’s detention and subsequent interrogation by the central agency, without providing additional information.
As part of an investigation into JeM’s alleged plot to indoctrinate young people and promote terrorism in India, the NIA carried out searches at 19 different locations on Thursday.
Officials reported that the search operations were conducted across three states, including Uttar Pradesh, and extended to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
