Renault Bigster spy shots: what’s new?
Fresh spy shots shared with us by our friends Motor.es in Spain give us a glimpse of the new Renault Bigster for the first time. The dashboard design looks identical to the Duster, including the multifunction steering wheel with the silver accents, as well as the large infotainment screen which is slightly tilted towards the driver’s seat. The Bigster will share a lot of its design cues, body panels and interior bits with the Duster, but could get additional creature comforts to justify the 7-seat SUV’s higher price tag. The SUV’s India entry is still some time away and the model seen in these spy shots is the one that will go on sale in Europe.
Bigster gets an identical dashboard layout as the new Duster.
The Bigster will be based on the same CMF-B platform as the Duster. With a length of about 4.6-metres, the Bigster will be around 300mm longer than the new Duster, which is clearly visible in these spy shots. The wheelbase has been elongated, while the rear doors are also larger than the Duster. This will in turn liberabe more cabin room and also additional cargo space.
Renault Bigster: powertrain, India launch timeline
Renault is yet to confirm what powertrains will be on offer with the Bigster. Its 5-seat sibling Duster comes with three engine options abroad including a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol hybrid, a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol coupled with a 48V starter motor, and a 1.0-litre petrol-LPG option in select markets. The Bigster is expected to carry over these powertrains. It will get a front-wheel drive configuration, along with an optional all-wheel drive setup just like the Duster.
The new Duster will make a comeback in the second half of 2025, and its 7-seat derivative will follow later. There will also be Nissan derivatives of these two SUVs, and those are expected to go on sale after the new Duster is launched in India. Upon arrival, the Bigster will directly rival the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and the MG Hector Plus.
