The new-gen Honda Amaze has started reaching dealer stockyards and the first leaked images of the Dzire rival have surfaced online, showing the exterior and interior of the car in production form.
- New Amaze looks like a mini-City
- Gets camera-based ADAS like Elevate
- Gets a free-standing infotainment unit
New Honda Amaze design is modern yet familiar
The car seen in these images seems to be finished in Obsidian Blue Pearl, which is also available on the City sedan. Honda India seems to have replicated the look of larger models in its line-up and could be playing it safe in terms of styling by using familiar design cues.
The new Amaze comact sedan looks striking from the front, but also has a lot in common with the Elevate SUV – the grille is large and upright, and has a similar honeycomb design. It gets a dual-LED headlamp setup, which is much slimmer and is positioned higher than before. Its daytime running lamp signatures also seem inspired by the Elevate. The front bumper has a simple look and there are LED projector fog lamps placed at each corner, at least for the higher variants.
In profile, it looks similar to the outgoing car, save for the revised front and rear light designs. The wing mirror placement has moved from the pillar to the door, and the alloy wheel’s design is new and makes the car compact sedan more premium.
At the rear, the resemblance to the City is uncanny. The tail-lamps look almost the same as the City, and the boot lid design and rear bumpers also have a family look.
New Honda Amaze interior like the Elevate
The new Amaze seems to share a lot of bits with the Elevate on the inside, too. The interior shades are different, but both models share a similar dashboard layout with a free-standing infotainment screen. And though bits like the climate control panel, the part-digital instrument cluster and the steering wheel are common, the gear lever, centre console and touchscreen unit seem to be unique to the Amaze.
New Honda Amaze features expected
As seen in these leaked pictures, the new Amaze will come with LED projector headlamps and fog lamps, diamond-cut alloy wheels, auto climate control, three-point seat belts for all occoupants, rear seat arm rest and camera-based ADAS, among other safety kit, comfort and convenice feafures.
New Honda Amaze powertrain details
The new Amaze continues with the same powertrains as the older model: 90hp, 1.2-litre NA petrol engine paired with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic.
New Honda Amaze launch and rivals
The new Amaze has its work cut out thanks to its direct rival, the latest-gen Dzire, that made its debut recently. Both models have got a fair share of updates, including more features and tech. It remains to be seen how competitive they are in terms of pricing when Honda launches the Amaze on December 4.
