The NBA had persistently talked about how they wanted to bring more eyes to the league. Well, the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks have done the job for them with the blockbuster trade of Anthony Davis and Luka Doncic, a move that may go down as one of the biggest trades in basketball history on Sunday.
ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported the deal on Saturday, February 1. The trade comes five days before the February 6 NBA trade deadline and sends shockwaves around the league.

Doncic, a five-time All-NBA vet who took the Mavericks to their first Finals after 13 years in 2024, now takes his talents to Los Angeles to join forces with LeBron James.
A five-time All-NBA power forward and 2020 NBA champion with Los Angeles, Davis heads to the third team of his career after being drafted No. 1 overall by New Orleans in 2011. He now will team up with superstar Kyrie Irving, as Mavs aim to push immediately for a title charge.
Striking while the iron was hot, the Utah Jazz got involved, making their second trade of the day, picking up two second-round picks and a change of scenery candidate in 2023 first-round pick Jalen Hood-Schifino.
