Former American tennis player Martina Navratilova has given her verdict on whether US President Donald Trump is ill, mentally, after a tweet went viral questioning the latter’s sanity.

Navratilova reposted the assertion that slammed Trump as not being qualified for the office, mentally.

Although the quote was credited to political candidate Evan McMullin, there is no record to be found that he ever said such words.

“Yes,” Navratilova tweeted on Wednesday evening, in reply to the question asking if Trump was mentally ill.

The former US tennis star was concerned about Trump’s recent tariff policy on Mexico and Canada.

“On the tariffs, is there any room left for Canada and Mexico to make a deal before midnight? And should we expect those Chinese tariffs, the extra 10% to take effect tomorrow?” a journalist asked Trump a few days back.

“No room left for Mexico or for Canada. No, the tariffs, they’re all set. They go into effect tomorrow,” Trump replied.

Reacting to the news, Navratilova said that the step could cause immense inflation. “Jesus. Welcome to Trump-induced inflation 2.0,” she tweeted.

Meanwhile, Trump on Wednesday threatened further destruction of Gaza if all remaining hostages aren’t released and issued an ultimatum to Hamas leaders to run off.

The US confirmed unprecedented direct talks with Hamas, which it proscribes as a terrorist group, focused on American hostages in Gaza.

Backing Israel as the ceasefire teeters, Trump said that he was sending Israel everything it requires to end the job as his administration expedites billions of dollars in weapons.

Trump warned of repercussions for Gaza as a whole, where the entire population has been displaced by Israel’s relentless military campaign in response to Hamas’ attack two years ago.

Trump’s comments follow Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s warning of consequences that ‘you can’t imagine’ if Hamas doesn’t hand over the remaining hostages seized in the attack.

The first phase of a ceasefire finished over the weekend after more than a month of relative calm that included exchanges of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
