Nagpur Launches New Voter Awareness Cell to Increase Polling Participation |

Nagpur: Aiming to boost voter turnout in the upcoming assembly elections, Nagpur Zilla Parishad has inaugurated a Voter Awareness Cell. Inaugurating the cell, collector Vipin Itankar emphasised the need to maximize outreach and encourage as many eligible citizens as possible to exercise their voting rights. The initiative is a district-wide effort to increase voter participation across Nagpur, both in rural areas and in the city itself.
The Voter Awareness Cell will operate under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, executing a series of creative campaigns and events designed to engage a diverse audience. Planned activities include awareness campaigns through decorations and rangoli designs, messages from children encouraging family members to vote, the ‘My Parents Will Vote’ campaign, as well as marathons, cycling events, and rallies at the taluka level. In villages, additional programmes such as village task forums, ‘nari shakti’ initiatives, five principles of voting, village tours, election school workshops, and the ‘refreshments and voting’ campaign will be organised to spread the message further.
CEO of Zilla Parishad and district SVEEP nodal officer, Vinayak Mahamuni, highlighted the cell’s role in creating awareness.
This initiative also assigns key responsibilities to members of the cell, including project director Varsha Gaonkar, deputy CEO Kailash Ghodke, extension officer Deepak Meharkure, and Anjali Prasad, who will work alongside other department heads. (Reporting by Tanisha Jaiswal)
