Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s husband and businessman Robert Vadra on Wednesday weighed in on the reports of the Pahalgam attack terrorists checking the identity of the victims before killing them and said that they did this to give a message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that “Muslims are feeling weakened”.

He said that terrorists resorted to checking the IDs and killing as per religious identity “because there is a divide that has come in our country between Hindus and Muslims”.

His remarks stoked a massive controversy even as the nation mourns the loss of 26 people in the terror attack in the Baisaran Meadows of Pahalgam on Tuesday afternoon. The BJP lashed out at him, alleging that this mindset of Congress has “sown the seeds of hatred in the country”.
