Hollywood may well end up giving yet another good grosser in India. If the first two days of Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part One are any indication, a bountiful weekend awaits the action biggie, which has taken a good start at the box office. The first two days have resulted in over Rs. 20 crores coming in already and that’s a very good platform that has been set for the film.
Released on Wednesday, the film started on a very positive note with over Rs. 12 crores coming in. This was not a holiday but still the makers wanted to utilise the most of an open weekend ahead and hence started early globally. Usually when films take an early start then they do so on Thursdays but here it was a Wednesday release, which shows the kind of trust and confidence that they had in the film. This paid off as well since on Thursday, yet another working day, the film sustained well by showing a very basic dip and still managing to bring in over Rs. 9 crores.
Currently, Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part One stands at Rs. 21.50 crores* after two days and to think of it, the conventional weekend is yet to begin. Since the reports of the film are good and there is practically no competition around it, the Tom Cruise starrer will cruise past the Rs. 50 crores mark in a jiffy and then collect more. By the look of things, the film should end up crossing Rs. 55 crores in its extended weekend and then make the most of the two open weeks before Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani arrives on July 28.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
