“Indie Haat is not just an exhibition, but a celebration of India’s rich textile and handicraft heritage,” said the government’s Minister for Textiles Giriraj Singh in a press release. “Through this platform, we are not only preserving traditional crafts but also providing artisans and weavers with direct access to global markets.”

The showcase will run until February 18 and has been curated in collaboration with the National Institute of Fashion Technology with the aim that the country’s craft traditions are presented in a contemporary and engaging manner. The event is also designed to complement trade show Bharat Tex 2025, which launched on February 14 and runs at the capital’s Bharat Mandapam until February 17. The global industry event features over 5,000 exhibitors and expects to attract around 6,000 international buyers from over 110 countries.

Indie Haat features a display of 80 different types of handcrafted and handwoven products, made by 85 artisans and weavers from across India. These craftspeople comprise 55 handicraft artisans from 17 states and three union territories and 30 handloom weavers from 20 states and one union territory. Along with live demonstrations of traditional craft techniques, visitors to the event can engage with the artisans themselves and browse products including textiles, jewellery, glasswork, metalware, and cane and bamboo crafts among others.
