MG Windsor price, battery price, BaaS battery rental, specs, range and features


JSW MG Motor India has today announced the full price list of the Windsor EV inclusive of the battery pack which starts from Rs 13.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It’s available in three trims – Excite, Exclusive and Essence – with prices going up to Rs 15.50 lakh for the top-spec version. Earlier, MG had only announced prices of the Windsor exclusive the battery, the latter being offered on a rental basis, with prices starting from Rs 9.99 lakh.

MG is offering lifetime warranty on the battery pack for the first owner, assured 60 percent buyback after three years, and one-year free charging at public chargers using the eHUB mobile application. MG Windsor specs, battery and charging

The Windsor is powered by a 38kWh LFP battery with prismatic cells that have a claimed range of 331km. The front axle-mounted motor produces 136hp and 200Nm of torque. The Windsor also gets four driving modes – Eco+, Eco, Normal and Sport. MG claims the Windsor is compatible with fast charging, at 45kW, using which the batteries can be juiced up from 0 to 80 percent in 55 minutes. It will also be available with 3.3kW and 7.7kW AC chargers which can charge the battery from 0 to 100 percent in about 14 hours and 6.5 hours, respectively.

On the equipment front, the Windsor a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, 135-degree reclining rear seats, wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, powered driver’s seat, 9-speaker Infinity sound system, wireless phone charging, panoramic glass roof and ambient lighting. 

Based on a born electric platform, the interior makes good use of space with a flat floor and a large floating centre console with cupholders. Safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, all four disk brakes, front and rear parking sensors, ESC, and a 360-degree camera. 

MG Windsor price vs rivals

With prices ranging between Rs 13.50 lakh and Rs 15.50 lakh, the Windsor finds itself squarely aimed against the Tata Nexon EV and the Mahindra XUV400. The former is priced between Rs 14.49 lakh and Rs 19.29 lakh, while the latter is priced between Rs 15.49 lakh and Rs 19.39 Lakh. Both these SUVs are quite a lot more expensive than the Windsor, but also offer a lot more claimed range of 465km and 456km respectively from a relatively similarly sized battery.
