MG Comet Blackstorm price, Dark Edition, new features, range, BaaS price


The MG Comet Blackstorm edition has been launched at a price of Rs 7.80 lakh (ex-showroom), plus Rs 2.50 per km for battery rental. The Comet Blackstorm is based on the top Exclusive variant of the urban EV and gets a blacked-out exterior and interior treatment with red accents. Bookings have commenced with a token amount of Rs 11,000.

Do note that MG hasn’t yet revealed the price of the Comet Blackstorm edition without the BaaS Service, i.e., if you want to buy the vehicle outright. For reference, the regular Comet Exclusive variant with a fast charger and BaaS service is priced at Rs 7.50 lakh (ex-showroom), plus Rs 2.50 per km for battery rental.

Comet Blackstorm gets Starry Black colour

The Comet Blackstorm comes finished in a ‘Starry Night’ exterior paint shade, with red accents on the bumper and around the fog lamps. Elsewhere, the ‘Comet EV’ and ‘Internet Inside’ badges at the rear also get a darkened finish. Customers can additionally opt for an accessory package that adds a ‘Blackstorm’ badge on the fender, ‘Morris Garage’ lettering on the hood finished in red, blacked-out plastic wheel covers with a red star-like highlight, and decals on the doors.

The blacked-out theme carries over on the inside with black leatherette upholstery that gets ‘Blackstorm’ embroidered in red on the headrests. MG has also updated the sound system to now offer four speakers instead of the two available in the regular Exclusive variant.

Is powered by a 42hp electric motor

The Comet Blackstorm is mechanically the same as the standard model, powered by the 17.3kWh battery that runs a 42hp, 110Nm electric motor, with an MIDC range of 230km.

Some noteworthy features on the Comet Blackstorm edition include dual 10.25-inch instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment, wireless Android Auto, Apple Carplay, connected car features, LED headlamps and tail-lamps, rear parking camera, keyless lock/unlock and dual airbags.

Notably, this is the first EV from MG’s stable to get a Blackstorm variant; all of MG’s ICE-powered models already have a Blackstorm version. MG also claims that the Comet has seen a 29 percent increase in year-on-year sales in CY2024 compared to CY2023.
