Mercedes E-Class price, old vs new, India launch details, discounts on E-Class

The new E-Class will have better resale value, but rear seat comfort is very similar to existing car.

A dealer has offered me nearly Rs 10 lakh off on the outgoing Mercedes E-Class (E200). Since my car will be chauffeur-driven at all times, I’m confused whether to go ahead with the deal or pick the new one? I understand that there won’t be any discounts on the new car, and the price will be higher, but won’t its resale value be better too?

Autocar India says: The outgoing E-Class has been a best-seller for Mercedes-Benz for its unmatched rear seat comfort (by segment standards). And since you’ll be chauffeur-driven at all times, it makes sense to opt for the outgoing version, because even though the new E-Class is more techy, its overall space and rear seat comfort is very similar. The only key feature addition in the new version is adjustable rear seat thigh support. As you correctly mentioned, the resale value of the new car is likely to be better down the line, however you can offset that by availing a substantial discount on the outgoing car. The new E-Class, meanwhile, is slated for a launch on October 9.
