The year 2024 will soon come to a close and most car brands are leaving no stone unturned in order to clear unsold inventory by offering massive discounts and benefits this month. We’ve compiled a list of 20 mass-market SUVs that have discounts of Rs 1 lakh or more this December.

Toyota SUV discounts for December 2024
Benefits of up to Rs 1.6 lakh
Toyota’s smallest SUV, the Taisor gets up to Rs 1 lakh in discounts this month, at least for the 100hp turbo-petrol engine-equipped variants. The 90hp, 1.2-litre NA variants have slightly lower total discounts of around Rs 65,000 at the moment. The Maruti Grand Vitara-based Hyryder SUV can be had with discounts and benefits to the tune of Rs 1.6 lakh for the frugal 115hp petrol-hybrid variants, depending on inventory. The Hyryder 105hp mild-hybrid and 88hp CNG get comparatively lower benefits of around Rs 75,000.
Maruti SUV discounts in December 2024
Benefits of up to Rs 2 lakh
Maruti’s current flagship SUV, the Grand Vitara, is available with discounts and benefits of over Rs 1.5 lakh on the strong hybrid variants, which are powered by a frugal 115hp petrol-electric powertrain. The 103hp mild-hybrid and 88hp CNG variants, which come with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four cylinder engine, have lower benefits; buyers could avail Rs 70,000 off. Maruti’s rugged off-roader hasn’t exactly set the sales charts on fire, which is why the Jimny also has discounts of close to Rs 2 lakh at most Nexa outlets. The Jimny is powered by a 105hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine that has manual and automatic gearbox options.
Skoda-Volkswagen SUV discounts in December 2024
Benefits of over Rs 2 lakh
Volkswagen Group’s India 2.0 SUVs – the VW Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq – are available with attractive benefits across their line-ups. The 115hp, 1.0-litre TSI engine-equipped variants are available with discounts upwards of Rs 2 lakh, while those with 150hp, 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine are being offered with lower benefits of around Rs 80,000. Some dealers have unsold stock from MY2023 as well, which can be had with much higher discounts.
MG SUV discounts for December 2024
Benefits of over Rs 2 lakh
MG Motor India is offering attractive benefits of over Rs 2 lakh on the Hector, which comes in five-, six- and seven-seat form, and has 143hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 170hp, 2.0-litre engine options. While the Hector petrol has manual and CVT gearbox options, the diesel is manual only.
MG’s ZS EV – which is powered by a 50.3kWh battery rated at 461km by MIDC – can be had with discounts as high as Rs 1.5 lakh. Meanwhile, the Astor mid-size SUV, which takes on Hyundai’s Creta and comes with 110hp, 1.5-litre petrol and 140hp, 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine options, is available with discounts of around Rs 1.25 lakh at almost all outlets.
Mahindra SUV discounts for December 2024
Benefits of over Rs 3 lakh
Mahindra’s SUVs are available with mouthwatering benefits this month, staring with the XUV400 EV, which gets discounts to the tune of Rs 3 lakh. The all-electric SUV comes with 34.5kWh and 39.4kWh battery pack options, with 359km and 456km of MIDC range, respectively.
Next up, is the Thar 3-door, which gets discounts of Rs 3.06 lakh on the Earth Edition 4WD variant. Meanwhile, the Thar 3-door petrol 2WD has discounts of around Rs 1.3 lakh at most outlets. The second-gen Thar has been a sales success for Mahindra and is available with 152hp, 2.0-litre petrol, 119hp, 1.5-litre diesel and 132hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine options. An automatic gearbox and a 4×4 setup are optional extras on the petrol and larger capacity diesel unit.
The entire Bolero line-up is available with discounts, with the original Bolero getting benefits of around Rs 1.4 lakh on some variants. Similarly, the Bolero Neo compact SUV gets benefits of around Rs 1 lakh, while the Bolero Neo Plus also has benefits in the Rs 1 lakh ballpark. The Bolero and Bolero Neo get a 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine in 76hp and 100hp states of tune, while the Neo Plus gets a 120hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine.
Unsold units of the XUV300 compact SUV, most of which are MY2023 are available with benefits and discounts of upto Rs 1.8 lakh at most outlets. The compact SUV was available with 110hp, 1.2-litre petrol, 131hp, 1.2-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol, and 117hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine options. It was replaced by the XUV 3XO, which is essentially the facelift for the XUV300, back in April.
Jeep SUV discounts for December 2024
Benefits of over Rs 3 lakh
The Jeep Compass is being offered with discounts of Rs 3.2 lakh at most outlets. Jeep’s smallest SUV in India has been around since 2017, and sales have been dismal; in the last six months, montly wholesales averaged just 240 units. The SUV is available with a 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine with manual and automatic gearbox options, though AWD tech is also on offer on select higher automatic variants.
The larger Meridian, which recently recieved an entry-level 5-seater variant, gets benefits up to Rs 2.8 lakh during the month. The three-row version of the Compass is mechanically identical to the five-seat version.
Tata SUV discounts for December 2024
Benefits of over Rs 3.5 lakh
Both the Tata Harrier and Safari are available with attractive benefits, some as high as Rs 3.7 lakh for MY2023 variants. Similarly, the popular Nexon can be had with discounts of as high as Rs 2.7 lakh for unsold pre-facelift MY2023 stock. The newer MY2024 stock for all 3 SUVs are available with significant discounts as well, depending on variant and inventory. The Harrier and Safari share the 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine, along with the manual and automatic gearbox options. The Nexon is available in petrol, CNG and diesel form, with the petrol versions getting two types of manual gearboxes, and two automatic gearbox options.
