The festive season is upon us and most carmakers are offering massive discounts and deals to push sales. In fact, the discounts and benefits on offer have been ramped up significantly as most dealers have high inventory levels, and there is great need to clear older stock. Without further ado, here’s a list of cars and SUVs with over Rs 1 lakh off.

20. Honda City

Save up to Rs 1.14 lakh

The popular Honda City competes with the Hyundai Verna, VW Virtus and Skoda Slavia. It comes with a refined 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, feature-laden cabin and a plush ride. The City e:HEV, which comes with a frugal petrol-electric hybrid powertrain, is also available with discounts up to Rs 90,000. The City is priced between Rs 11.82 lakh-16.35 lakh, while the hybrid costs Rs 20.55 lakh.

The Nexon compact SUV has discounts ranging from Rs 16,000-1 lakh, though MY2023 models get an additional Rs 15,000 cash discount. Tata’s answer to the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO and other compact SUVs is currently priced between Rs 8 lakh-15.8 lakh, and comes with 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options, with manual and automatic gearboxes to choose from. The Nexon’s highlights include riding well, driving with plenty of confidence, and a practical and hardy SUV feel.

18. Volkswagen Virtus

Save up to Rs 1.2 lakh

The stylish Virtus comes with 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine options; while the former gets manual and automatic options, the latter gets a dual-clutch auto only. Volkswagen’s mid-size sedan has an upmarket cabin, a decently long list of features and is known for providing a sporty drive experience. During the festive season, the Virtus is priced from Rs 10.90 lakh to Rs 19.15 lakh.

17. Nissan Magnite

Save up to Rs 1.25 lakh

The Magnite compact SUV comes with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with manual and CVT options, and a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with manual and AMT options. Nissan’s compact SUV is currently priced between Rs 6.00 lakh and Rs 10.66 lakh, and is known for its value for money, striking looks, and interior space.

Maruti Grand Vitara

Maruti’s midsize SUV is available in mild-hybrid petrol, CNG and strong hybrid form; it’s at its most frugal with the 115hp hybrid powertrain and gets an AWD option when in mild-hybrid-manual form. The Grand Vitara is a fuel-efficient SUV with a sorted ride and handling balance, and rivals the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Tata Curvv. Prices range between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 19.93 lakh.

15. Kia Seltos

Save up to Rs 1.3 lakh

Kia’s answer to the Tata Curvv, Hyundai Creta and Skoda Kushaq, the Seltos is being sold with a cash discount, an exchange bonus and an accessories package. The Seltos comes with 1.5-litre petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel engine options, all of which have manual and automatic gearbox options. Kia’s mid-size SUV is priced from Rs 10.90-20.34 lakh, and is seen as a stylish and feature-rich alternative to its competition.

14. Citroen C3 Aircross

Save up to Rs 1.5 lakh

The C3 Aircross is spacious SUV that gets optional three row seating. It comes with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with automatic and manual gearbox options, and a decent feature list, thanks to the recent update. The unique mid-size SUV is known for its ride quality, is currently priced from Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 14.33 lakh and has no direct rivals in the Indian market.

13. Tata Safari

Save up to Rs 1.65 lakh

Tata Safari

The discounts on MY2024 Tata Safaris range between Rs 50,000 and Rs 1.4 lakh, and there’s an additional Rs 25,000 cash discount on the MY2023 versions. Tata Safari is priced in the Rs 15.49 lakh to Rs 27.34 lakh range, and its rivals include the Mahindra XUV700 and MG Hector Plus. Tata’s three-row SUV flagship is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that comes with manual and automatic gearbox options.

12. MG Hector

Save up to Rs 2 lakh

MG Motor India’s XUV700 rival comes with 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engine options; the former has manual, CVT and dual-clutch auto options, while the latter is a manual only. The spacious and feature-heavy SUV comes in 5-, 6-, and 7-seat form, and is currently priced between Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 22.93 lakh.

11. Maruti Jimny

Save up to Rs 2.5 lakh

Maruti’s lifestyle SUV now gets about Rs 45,000 more in discounts and benefits compared to last month. The Jimny competes with the Thar and Gurkha, and is currently priced between Rs 12.74 lakh and Rs 14.79 lakh. It comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.

10. Mahindra XUV400

Save up to Rs 3 lakh

Mahindra XUV400

Mahindra’s only EV on sale right now, the XUV400, is priced between Rs 16.74 lakh and 17.49 lakh, and competes against the MG Windsor and Tata Nexon EV. Dealers are offering greater benefits on the top-spec EL Pro variant with the 39.4kWh battery (456km MIDC range) and faster 7.2kW charger.

9. Mercedes A-Class Limousine

Save up to Rs 3 lakh

Merc’s most affordable sedan in India, the A-Class Limousine is priced from Rs 46.05 lakh and comes with a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel unit, both of which get an automatic gearbox as standard. We found the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe rival to be a more capable and better rounded package.

8. Mercedes C-Class

Save up to Rs 3 lakh

The standard C-class sedan is priced from Rs 61.85 lakh to Rs 69 lakh, and comes with three engine options. The C 200 has a 224hp, 1.5-litre mild-hybrid turbo-petrol engine, the C 220d gets a 220hp, 2.0-litre mild-hybrid diesel engine, and the recently launched C 300 gets a 281hp, 2.0-litre mild-hybrid turbo-petrol engine. Mercedes’ answer to the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 is more expensive than its rivals and rear passenger room isn’t anything to boast about, but it provides a mini S-Class-like experience.

7. Toyota Camry

Save up to Rs 3 lakh

Toyota’s Camry rivals Skoda’s Superb in the Indian market, and is priced at Rs 46.17 lakh. The sedan is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol-electric hybrid powertrain that has a total output of 218hp. The Camry is large, comfortable, well-equipped and features flamboyant styling, though sporty this sedan is not.

6. Volkswagen Taigun

Maximum discounts are offered on unsold inventory of the MY2023 Taigun 1.5 GT. MY2024 Taiguns with the 115hp, 1.0-litre engine get between Rs 60,000 and Rs 1.25 lakh off. With the most recent raft of updates, VW’s rival to the Tata Curvv and Hyundai Creta now gets six airbags across the range. The Taigun recently hit the 1 lakh sales milestone (including exports), in part helped by its solid build and superb ride and handling balance. The Volkswagen midsize SUV is normally priced between Rs 11.70 lakh and Rs 20.00 lakh, but during the festive season, the Taigun’s price range is Rs 10.90 lakh to 18.70 lakh.

5. Jeep Compass

Save up to Rs 3.15 lakh

The Compass only comes with a 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel, but gets manual and automatic gearbox options, along with a 4WD option. Jeep’s most affordable SUV in India rivals the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV700, and costs Rs 18.99 lakh-32.41 lakh. Tough, capable and built to last, the Compass feels like a proper Jeep.

4. MG Gloster

Save up to Rs 6 lakh

MG’s flagship SUV is due for a major update soon and dealers are pushing sales of the current model by offering big discounts. The Gloster is priced between Rs 38.80 lakh-43.16 lakh, rivals the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq and is known for its space and comfort, and its feature-rich interiors.

3. Toyota Hilux

Toyota’s renowned pick-up truck is powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine, which comes with manual and torque convertor automatic gearbox options. All three variants (STD MT, High MT and High AT) get 4WD as standard, along with a limited slip differential. Priced between Rs 30.40 lakh and Rs 37.90 lakh, the Hilux is the most expensive, longest and best-equipped pick-up on sale in India. Its closest rival is the Isuzu D-Max (Rs 11.55-25.52 lakh).

2. Kia EV6

Save up to Rs 10 lakh

Kia’s only EV at the moment is due a facelift next year, which is why discounts on the all-electric SUV are currently so high. This born-EV boasts of outstanding performance, a driver-oriented cockpit and innovative storage spaces, and comes with a 77.4kWh battery, with up to 708km of ARAI range on a single charge. The RWD variant gets a 229hp motor and is priced at Rs 60.97 lakh, while the AWD variant gets two motors making a total of 325hp, and costs Rs 65.97 lakh.

1. Jeep Grand Cherokee

Save up to Rs 12 lakh

Jeep’s flagship SUV in India is available in a single, fully-loaded variant. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to all four wheels. Priced at Rs 80.50 lakh, the Grand Cherokee is seen as an alternative to the likes of the Mercedes GLE, BMW X5 and Audi’s Q7.
