The hatchback segment may be shrinking, but carmakers are still looking to boost the sales of these models this festive season. At the moment, carmakers like Maruti, Toyota, Tata and MG Motors are offering the greatest discounts and benefits on their hatchback portfolio.

Toyota Glanza
Save up to Rs 68,000
The Toyota Glanza has total benefits worth up to Rs 68,000, depending on the inventory. The hatchback comes with a 1.2-litre engine that makes 90hp when running on petrol and 77hp when running on CNG. The latter does not get any benefits this month. Toyota’s premium hatchback, which is essentially a rebadged Maruti Baleno, is currently priced between Rs 6.86 lakh and Rs 10.00 lakh (ex-showroom).
Tata Tiago, Tiago EV
Save up to Rs 65,000
The Tiago hatchback is available with three powertrain option: as an EV, with a petrol engine and in petrol-CNG form. The Tiago EV gets discounts up to Rs 50,000 on the XT long-range (LR) variant, but MY2023 models get an additional Rs 15,000 off. Other LR variants (with the 24kWh battery and an MIDC-rated range of 275km) get up to Rs 40,000 off. The MR variants (powered by the 19.2kWh battery with up to 221km of range) get a Rs 10,000 discount. The EV hatchback is priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 11.89 lakh.
The petrol and petrol-CNG variants of Tata’s most affordable model have benefits worth up to Rs 60,000, which includes a cash discount, exchange/scrappage benefits and a corporate discount. Priced from Rs 5.00 lakh-8.75 lakh, the Tiago is available with an 86hp 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine (73hp on CNG). Both petrol and CNG get manual and AMT options.
MG Comet
Save up to Rs 60,000
The MG Comet EV gets total benefits of up to Rs 60,000, which includes a cash discount, an exchange bonus and loyalty bonus. It recently got a subscription plan that brings the starting price down to Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tata Tiago EV rival comes with a 17.3kWh battery, which has an MIDC-rated range of 230km, albeit under the older norms. Available in three trims, the Comet is currently priced between Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 9.53 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
Save up to Rs 53,100
Both the 67hp, 1.0-litre and 90hp, 1.2-litre versions of the Wagon R with the AMT gearbox are available with benefits of up to Rs 53,100. Manual gearbox variants get up to Rs 48,100 off, while CNG trims (57hp) get Rs 43,100 discount. Maruti’s tall-boy hatch rivals the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago, and costs Rs 5.55 lakh-7.21 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno
Save up to Rs 52,100
The Maruti Baleno gets benefits up to Rs 52,100 on the AMT-equipped variants. The manual and CNG-powered variants get up to Rs 47,100 and 37,100, respectively. The Toyota Altroz and Hyundai i20 rival is currently priced between Rs 6.66 lakh and Rs 9.83 lakh.
