Mahindra XUV700 black launch and price, Ebony interior features, specifications

The Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition has launched in India with prices starting at Rs 19.64 lakh, and going up to Rs 24.14 lakh. As its name implies, the Ebony version is Mahindra’s new take on an all-black SUV, and, going against the grain, is purposely not all black, says the brand. Mahindra also says that they’ve come up with the XUV700 Ebony based on consumer feedback.

  1. Mahindra XUV700 Ebony priced Rs 15,000 more than equivalent variant
  2. Contrasting elements outside and inside ensure XUV700 Ebony is mostly black
  3. All XUV700 variant now get rear seat belt reminders as standard

The same powertrain options available with the equivalent variants continue – both the 200hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and the 185hp, 2.2-litre diesel have 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options.

However, the XUV700 Ebony is available in front-wheel-drive form only, and only in the 7-seat configuration.

Silver bash plates on front and rear bumpers provide contrast

The XUV700 Ebony features a new shiny black paint shade that Mahindra calls Stealth Black, along with blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels (the design is the same as the standard model) and Ebony badges on the front fenders and tailgate. The contrasting elements come in the form of silver scuff plates on the front and rear bumpers. With the addition of this new version, the XUV700 is now available in a total of eight monotone colour options, and five dual-tone exterior finishes.

On the inside, Mahindra has given the XUV700 Ebony black leatherette upholstery (with white stitching) on the seats and a dark dash and door finish, but has added other contrasting elements to ensure that this isn’t an all-black interior. The most noticeable contrasting element is the light grey roof liner, though the other contrasting bits include silver plastic bits on the steering and dashboard, along with dark chrome highlights on the steering-mounted controls and the gear console.

The AX7 L, meanwhile, comes with a blind spot monitor, 360-degree camera, a knee airbag (taking the total to 7 airbags), an electronic parking brake, a 12-speaker sound system, ventilated front seats and rear LED sequential turn indicators.

Mahindra has also added one safety feature to the entire XUV700 range, a rear seat belt reminder. The brand also says that this is the last update the XUV700 will get, but has yet to reveal any other details.
