Disha Nagnath Ubale, a class 10 student from Latur, showed indomitable courage and appeared for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination despite the death of her father. Her father died due to illness on Thursday evening and the funeral was scheduled for Friday, reported PTI.

Disha, who studies in the Zilla Parishad Girls School in Bhada village, was confused about whether she would be able to take the exam or not. Her teacher Shivling Nagapure handled the situation. He contacted Latur Divisional Board Chairman Sudhakar Telang, who spoke to Disha personally and advised her not to lose courage.

16-year-old Disha left her grief behind and headed towards the examination centre with determination. While she was writing the Marathi paper at Azim High School in Ausa, her father’s funeral was taking place at the same time, Premnath Lature, a resident of Bhada village told the news agency.

Disha’s family consists of her mother, grandmother, and younger brother. Village resident Premnath Lature said that the entire village appreciated her courage and called her bravery inspiring. This incident proved that even in difficult circumstances, dedication toward education and self-confidence gives a person the strength to move forward.

According to the timetable, the Maharashtra SSC exams 2025 commenced on February 21, 2025. It will continue till March 17, 2025. Exams for the Maharashtra SSC 2025 will be conducted in two sessions in pen and paper format. The first shift is being held from 11 am to 2 pm and the second shift from 3 pm to 6 pm.

In 2024, a total of 95.81 per cent of the students cleared the Maharashtra Board SSC exam. Of the 15,49,326 students who took the 10th exam last year, 14,84,431 successfully cleared the it. The pass percentage among girls stood at 97.21 per cent while among boys, it was 94.56 per cent.
